Agra is famous for having one of the Wonders of the world – Taj Mahal – and two other world heritage centers. In addition it has flourishing wildlife centers, rich cultural and religious life, good road and railways network, and some of the best hospitality establishments in India.

Every event is an esoteric mystery. Uttar Pradesh tourism department organizes cultural and artistic presentations at certain seasons of the year to display these attractions to tourists from all over the world. There are many reasons of popularity of tourism in Agra. Tourism in Agra is well developed.

One of the events that attract tourist in hordes is Taj Mahotsav, and event celebrated for 10 days in beautiful display commemorating the life of the Mughal Darbars.


The celebration opens with the procession of decorated elephants and camel, joined by craft men, drummers, and local artists, then reaches a crescendo during the display of culinary expertise in local cuisine by the champions of Uttar Pradesh.

Tourists who visit Agra for this event can never cease to wonder the mystery of relationship between human beings and elephants, and how these humans were able to control such huge creature. Agra tourism is well developed and it is growing further. The tourist attractions are the main reason of growing Agra tourism.

But of more wonder to tourists is the Taj Mahal; a magnificent edifice of love built by Emperor Shah Jahan in honor of his favorite wife. The Taj Mahal mausoleum is situated on one extreme of the sprawling landscape having fountains and polished paving. The garden has four channels of water representing the four rivers of Moslem Paradise and the marble exterior was organized in Arabic writing.

The interior wall was done with partly precious stones and partly special colored marble. Taj Mahal is a clear demonstration of architectural advancement of 17 century India. Tourism in Agra is growing. Agra tourism is expanding due to Taj Mahal and other attractions.

Nearby Taj Mahal are several wildlife parks; the bird sanctuaries and wildlife sanctuaries. Bharaptur Bird sanctuary is one of the most popular with over 350 species of birds, and some mammal and reptiles. The kinds of animals include: Striped Hyena, Golden Jackal, Fishing Cat, Blackbuck, Jungle Cat, Nilgai, and Sambhar. The varieties of bird include: Spanish Sparrow, Coot Snipes, Common Demoiselle, Siberian Crane, Red Crested Porhard, Rosy Pelican and Flamingo. The bird sanctuary takes its name Bharaptur from one of the names of god Shiva.

All around Agra are tourist attractions, from Delhi beaches to the neighboring state of Rajasthan where the national park housing a wide variety of animals is located. Tourism is the other name of Agra, and the tourism department of Uttar Pradesh is bringing all their mysterious endowments to the whole world. Tourism in Agra is established not only due to Taj Mahal but also due to other reasons as well.
