Wildlife in Andaman Nicobar consist not only the national parks but also the coral reefs that give a brief insight to the marine life of the islands. There are mainly two national parks in Andaman Nicobar.

They are the Mahatma Gandhi national park at Wandoor and Mount Harriet National Park located towards south of the islands.

The amazing collection of flora and fauna at Mahatma Gandhi National park will fill your heart with awe. You can easily reach these national parks by boat and spend a day or two to have a comprehensive view at the collection. If you prefer boating it will allow you see the water lagoons and the water creatures in there. Crabs, dolphins and coral fishes are a rare view that while you sail through the waters of the region.


Mount Harriet National Park is a beautiful place which is established among high mountain peaks that stand high to speak the freedom they enjoy over the large mass of land. It is a natural habitat for elephants as well. These elephants are well trained to pull timber trunks from the jungle for the nearby industries. Trekking in the hilly regions can be a real fun as the entire are is covered with thick forest and waters that surrounds the boundary make the environment cool and tropical.

There are three major vegetations that cover the entire region of the Andaman and Nicobar islands. Either you will see the dense mangrove forest or the thick tropical forest towards south or if you move towards the marshy ends of the islands there are coral reefs, which hardly have a solid land to tread on.
