Temples of Chandigarh though not very popular in the country has a charm of its own. Though they are not ancient monuments and world heritages they hold importance among the residents of Chandigarh. Like the rest of India, Chandigarh has lots and lots of Temples. Chandigarh is a very interesting place.

It is a very nice place to visit. You will simply enjoy visiting this place. Another important thing about Chandigarh is that it has a lot of temples. Hindus pray in their temples.

There are many other religions which are practiced in India and those religions also have temples. Thus the number of temples in India is great.

Same is the case with Chandigarh as well. It has a number of temples in it. These temples are decorated in a very beautiful way.

Chandi Devi temple- This temple is approximately 15 kms away from Chandigarh. The city of Chandigarh derives it name from this goddess of power, Chandi. This temple of Chandigarh is ought to be visited by all tourists.

Jayanti Devi temple-This temple is surrounded by Shivalik hills on the bank of River Jayanti.

Ancient Shiva temple of Saketri-thousands of devotees flock to this temple on Shivratri day to pray and seek Lord Shiva’s blessings.

Mansa Devi temple-There are two temples of Goddess Mansa Devi, old and the new. Maharaja of Patiala had constructed the new temple of Goddess Mansa Devi.

Naina Devi Temple- This temple is at an altitude of 1300 meters and is linked by cable cars.

Gurudwara Nada Sahib- Thousands of devotees visit this place from India and abroad to realize their dreams. Anandpur Sahib Takhat sSri Keshgarh is one among the five Takhats of the Sikh religion. This place is worshipped by the Sikhs.

Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib- Any person taking bath at this holy place is cured of all diseases.

Aiyappa Temple- a south Indian temple has Lord Aiyappa as the main idol, besides Ganapati and Bhagawati. Balaji Temple- The main idol of this temple is Lord Venkateshwara. Puja’s are performed as per the traditions followed at Tirupathi.

Sri Karthikeya Swami Temple-constructed in the Dravidian form of architectures has Lord Murugan as its main idol. This temple is reachable by road, rail and air. Lord Murugan protects its devotees from ill-fortune and eventuality.

Like all other temples, Chandigarh temples are not merely places of worship but also centers of education and social and cultural activities.
