The exceptional flora and fauna has generated sufficient potential for wildlife in Chhattisgarh. The sanctuaries are open throughout the year.

The state has 3 national parks and 11 wildlife sanctuaries. The ecology of Chhattisgarh is well maintained by the government.

Indravati national park- This Park is well-known for its diverse wildlife and endangered animals. It has India’s most famous tiger reserve. The excellent grassland of this region provides fodder to herbivores like chital, wild buffaloes, nilgai, barking deer and guars.

Monitor lizard, Russell viper, Indian rock python, freshwater crocodile, common krait, cobra are some of the reptiles found here.

It also provides shelter to a huge variety of birds. To attract migratory birds this sanctuaries have evolved artificial waterholes. Wildlife of Chhattisgarh is indeed and exciting experience.

Kanger Valley National park-The crocodile park situated with this park is a must visit for tourists. It is home to various wild animals like the leopards, flying squirrel, sambar, mouse deer snakes pythons wild boar, langur hyena , sloth bear etc. Wildlife, waterfalls, rare bird species, ancient caves are ornate of this parks. Hill mynahs, herons, steppe eagle, tree pies, racket-tailed drongoes, jungle fowls are often seen in this park.

Udanti Sanctuary was primarily created for protecting the wild buffaloes.

Guru Ghasidas national Park is the most unique of all National parks of Chhattisgarh. Trees like the Sal teak and bamboo grow in abundance here. Tigers, jackals, Chital, barking deer, four-horned antelopes, chinkara, nilgai, porcupine, bison, sloth bear, striped hyena, leopards, sambar are found here. Migratory birds can also be watched from here.

The other sanctuaries of Chhattisgarh like Sitanali, Barnawapava. Gomardah, Achanakmar and Tamorpingla are also blessed with a wide variety of exotic flora and fauna.

The hilly region, rivers, grassland and dense forest strengthen the wildlife of Chhattisgarh. As a matter of fact the wild life of Chhattisgarh is very interesting. The major contributing factor behind this fact is that most of Chhattisgarh is covered with forests. The major part of this state is under forests and as a result you find many typical forest features in the wildlife of Chhattisgarh.

It is an extremely beautiful state. The forests make it green and cool and the atmosphere is thus very nice for all the visitors. People enjoy visiting this place a lot. Their natural beauty of this region is exemplary. There are many different kinds of animals and plants that are found in this state.
