Some of the festivals of Dehradun have been mentioned as below:
Tapakeshwar Fair: This fair is also termed as the Deveshwara festival. This fair is held on the religious temple of the Tapakeshwara. The temple is situated in the cave which is known as the Drona Gufa which is dedicated to the Lord Shiva. A very huge fair is held on it on Shiv Ratri. Many of the devotees assemble on this temple and offer their prayers.
Lakhawar Fair: This is a fair which held every year in the month of the September and October.
It is a rural festival of the Gharwali people. This festival shows the reflection of the tradition and culture of the Gharwali people.
Bissu Fair: This fair is organized on the ground of the Jhanda. This fair is the tribe fair of the Jaunsari. This fair shows the reflection of the tradition and the cultural heritage of the Jaunsari tribe.
Neelkanth Mahadev Fair: This is a fair which is organized on the temple of the Neelkanth which is located on the hill which is above the Swarg Ashram. This is a place which is very significant for the pilgrims. In the month of the
July and August every year a very enormous fair is held on this temple.
Mahasu Devta’s fair: This is chiefly the tribe fair which is organized at the Hanol. Every year in the month of the August this fair takes place. This is one of the very important festivals of Dehradun to the local people therefore this fair is celebrated with great enthusiasm.
Jhanda Fair: This is the fair which is chiefly celebrated by the Sikh community but as the Dehradun is the place with multi culture the other people also celebrate this festival. This is affair which is held at the Darbar of the Guru Ram Sai every year.
All these festivals of Dehradun are celebrated with the great hospitality and enthusiasm. |
