Dehradun is the capital of Uttranchal. The Uttranchal is considered as the state where the 60% of the area of the land is forested. Therefore the state is obviously the destination for the wildlife tourism. There is also some of the wildlife in Dehradun also.

Valley of Flowers National Park: This is a park which is created in the year 1981. This park covers the area of the 87 sq km. The town whish is very near to this park is the Karna Parayag which is situated at the distance of the 33 km. one can here see the different varieties of the fauna such as the monal, leopards, pheasants, Himalayan Kthar and musk deer.
This park also includes the rest house. The best time for visiting this park is in the month of the July and August.
Nada Devi National park: This is a park which was set up in the year 1980 and is located in the district of the chamoli which is very near to the Dehradun. This park covers the total area of the 630 sq km.
here one will find the animals like the barrel, Himalayan bear, goral, sambar, pheasant, musk deer, green pigeon, snow pigeon, snow leopard, panther, wild boar and monal etc. the most favorable time for visiting the park are the months of the April to September.
Rajaji National Park: This is a park which is situated in the district of Saharanpur in Siwaliks. This is a park which was set up in the year 1966. The nearest airport to this park is the Dehradun airport which is located at the distance of the 50 km. The most superior time for visiting the park is from the months of the October to June.
One can here find the different varieties of the fauna such as the cheetah, leopard, sambar, elephant, jungle fowl, tiger, pig, bear, peafowl and barking deer etc. These are few famous wildlife regions of Dehradun. Wildlife in Dehradun is well preserved. These sanctuaries help in preserving wildlife in Dehradun.
All these above mentioned wildlife sanctuaries and national parks are not basically situated in Dehradun but are located very near to it. |
