Some of the prominent beaches are Candolim Beach, Baga Beach, Vagator Beach, Bambolim Beach, Sinquerim Beach and Arambol Beach to the North and Agonda Beach, Palolem Beach, Mobor & Cavelossim Beaches and Benaulim Beach to the south.
Significance of Beaches
Candolim Beach is the birth place of a Goan freedom fighter called Abbe Faria. You can rent a beach umbrella and sunbathe in solitude. The shacks dot the beach and this beach is always packed with tourists. Baga Beach is a fishing beach and an extended area of Calangute beach. This beach is safe for swimming as it has clean and white sand. You can go for activities such as fishing and water sports. Baga is prevalent with topless sunbathers who try to seize sun. Baga has Saturday market offering Kashmiri handlooms and other relics along the road towards the beach.
Similarly, the other beaches are also prominent in their own way such as the Sinquerim Beach is clean and is a continuation of Baga. Bambolim Beach is in a secluded spot between Goa Medical College and Goa University. The lunch at this beach resort is excellent.
Arambol Beach is a detached beach stretch prominent for its sandy terrain and rocks. This beach is ideal for swimming. Sports enthusiasts can go for activities such as paragliding and dolphin viewing boat trips. Vagator Beach is unsafe for swimming, but enjoys active nightlife. The Bebaulim beach is flocked by tourists as the main attraction is the dolphin cruises.
