The state of Haryana in India celebrates many festivals. These festivals are the greatest way to let the mind, body, heart and soul free. All these senses are treated to immense jubilation on all sides. All the celebrations of the festivals arouse a spirit of celebration within people who are not accustomed with the land and the customs. There are numerous festivals in Haryana and each festival is celebrated with the energy as if it is the one and only festival in the state. One of its important festivals is Lohri on the 13th of January. The festival of Baisakhi is also celebrated with pomp of music, dance and huge feasts.
Other Important Festivals
Teej is a vibrant festival in Haryana marking the coming of the monsoon and suggesting the freshness of life to the landscape and human life as well. Women get dressed up in bangles, trinkets and various apparels and pray for a long life for their husbands. This festival is done in a grandeur way. Sanjhi is observed as the mother goddess and in Haryana this goddess is worshipped by the unmarried girls. The Durga Goddess is her recognized as Sanjhi by the Haryana state women. The image of this goddess is either drawn on the wall or a collage of this goddess is fixed on the wall.
Suraj Kund Crafts Mela is conducted by the tourism of Haryana. This mela displays handloom items and craft works from all the regions of the country and so this becomes an opportunity for lots of visitors to visit Haryana on this occasion. The other important festivals celebrated are Dussera, Diwali, Ram Naomi, Raksha Bandhan, Holi and Bhai Duj. All these festivals are done with a family get together and so delicacies are prepared in plenty and distributed. They have a great time during festivals. |
