India is a nation where a tourist can witness vast differences in everything such as culture, language, traditions and even food. In spite of all these differences, there is a common bond that runs finely binding all the Indians.

This can be seen everywhere including the place where Hindus worship their deities, the temple.

Though there are differences in the architecture, the style and the model of the temples, there is a common chord between all these temples.

That common bond is that all are temples where people with pure intentions and pure hearts come to remind themselves of and pray to the Almighty. There are temples all over India.

Places of Sanctity

The state of Haryana also like the rest of India has many temples. They are the places where the mind meets the other dimension, the dimension where people can see god. The temple is a place of silence, devotion and sincerity if a person is irreligious. The temples receive large numbers of pilgrims all over the year. The Mansa Devi Temple at Panchkula is 8 kilometers from Chandigarh. Hindu scriptures state this temple as a part of the 52 ‘Satipiths’. It is also believed that the head of Devi Sati happened to fall at that very place.

Temples of attraction

Haryana has certain temples that are of great attraction and these gods are believed to have great power. One such temple is the Chandi Mandir devoted to mother goddess and is situated nearly 15kms from Chandigarh city on the Kalka road. In fact, Chandigarh acquired its name from this goddess. This temple is worshipped at a place called Siddh Peeth, where it is believed that wishes are granted. Bhima Devi Temple is the oldest temple and is located on the Kalka Road. This temple is nearly 22 km from Chandigarh.

Jayanti Devi Temple is sited on the river banks of Jayanti River and is admirable as it is surrounded by Shivalik hills. Sheetala Devi Temple is also believed to possess great power. These temples are commonly flocked by numerous pilgrims. Besides these some prominent Haryana temples are Birla Mandir in Chandigarh dedicated to Goddess Laxmi and Lord Narayana; Sita Mai Temple in Karnal is devoted to Goddess Sita; Dargah in Panipat, Lat-ki Masjid in Hissar, Pathar Masjid in Kurukshetra and the Sthaneshwar Mahadev temple in Kurukshtra is a holy place for Hindus. All these temples are of great attraction to devotees and hence there is always a great crowd in these temples.
