Sanctuaries
The Indian state of
Haryana also has certain wildlife sanctuaries. The most prominent one
among them is the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary founded by Dr. Salim Ali,
India’s renowned ornithologist. Apart from this, there are also the
Saraswati Plantation Wild Life Sanctuary (Seonsar Forest) and the
Kaleswar Forests that act as reservoirs to preserve the most important
treasure of all. This invaluable treasure is India’s bio diversity. The
sanctuaries are a part of the heritage of the state and they are also
tourist places as there are lots of tourists who arrive fascinated by
the fauna of India. They all return fascinated and captivated by the
beauty of the wildlife in the sanctuaries.
Wildlife
Reserves
The wildlife reserve
in Haryana is the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary situated on the Jaipur-
Delhi highway. This sanctuary is abundant with resident and migratory
birds flying from European countries and Siberia. Some important
species of birds include egrets, teals, lapwings, shovellers, darters,
sandpipers, kingfishers, demoiselle cranes and various other aquatic
birds. Similarly, the Saraswati Wildlife Sanctuary is a refuge to Blue
Peafowl, Geedar, Wild Boar, Langur, Neelgai and naughty monkeys. The
Kaleswar forests have dense Sal groves and Haryana is promptly setting
up breeding centers for vulture as well.
Sultanpur Bird
Sanctuary is an appropriate refuge as the marshlands and swamps are
transformed into water bodies. This area dots the entire grassland with
Banyan trees, Acacia, Ber, Tendu, Jamun, Khair and Dhok trees. The
reserve is an invigorating place for more than 1000s of species of
birds. There are watch towers, museums and intimate hideouts. This
sanctuary is visited by tourist often in the months of September to
March. The tourists enjoy this and make this trip a stimulating trip as
wildlife is the crown of national heritage and sanctuaries help in
preserving this crown and is a privilege to the tourists to visit such
bounty of nature.
