Jammu and Kashmir is a state in India that provides tourism to the core. This makes lots of tourists frequent this destination. Worshipping the Almighty has been done by humans for more then thousands of years.

Numerous Pilgrimages

Jammu and Kashmir besides being an ideal place for vacation is also flocked by devotees who come to visit prominent pilgrimages. One such famous pilgrimage is Amarnath Caves. Tourists trek to the natural ‘Shivalinga’ made of ice, supposed to be a manifestation of Lord Shiva. Amarnath Caves can be reached after an arduous trek. Hazrathal Shrine is for Muslims in Kashmir and is popular for its sanctity and architectural beauty. This shrine is sited on the Shore of Dal Lake. Charar-e –Sharif shrine is popular place for Sufis and is identically revered by Hindus as well.

Kheer Bhawani is a temple situated nearly 30 kms from Srinagar. It is devoted to Goddess Ragnya Devi. This is a sacred pilgrimage and the temple acquired its name Kheer which meant milk pudding because the pilgrims pour this as a offering to the Goddess. The important festival of this temple is Navarathri.

Vaishno Devi is one of the most revered pilgrimages of Hindu sited at 5000 feet above sea level. This also involves a long trek and this shrine is dedicated to the Goddess Durga. The arduous trek has never discouraged the tourists and so the inflow of tourists is common.
