Kanchipuram wildlife is rich as the Vedanthangal Bird Sanctuary is the home for several migratory birds. The reason for starting this sanctuary is believed to be that the bird droppings are the best fertilizers to the soil thus increasing the fertility of the soil. The birds also feed on pests and other insects that can harm agriculture. This is a beautiful concept for starting Kanchipuram wildlife India.

The Kanchipuram wildlife, India is hardly known among the tourists as the main aim of people visiting Kanchipuram is either visiting temples or purchasing silk clothes.

The Kanchipuram wildlife gained importance as the villagers recognized the beneficial relationship of the birds and observed the fertility to be high and moreover the crops are totally free from insecticides and artificial fertilizers. They believed that true conservation lies in recognizing the mutual benefit.

Records show that villagers constantly complained about indiscriminate shooting of birds and then later it was prohibited. The British realized the villagers’ interest and in 1972 an entire lake was announced as a wildlife sanctuary. The Kanchipuram Wildlife, India protects the birds with the same enthusiasm their ancestors showed and avoid any sort of noisy activity adjacent to the sanctuary.

The Kanchipuram wildlife census shows that there was a 50% increase in the number of birds than last year. During monsoon the rainwater gets accumulated in the ponds and lakes and result in proliferation of aquatic animals for the birds such as tadpoles, water insects, fish, frogs and snails. Here, the trees are filled with birds and estimate to nearly 75000 birds. Bird watchers and ornithologists can have a quality time here.
