Karnataka has
not only been rich with temples and shrines but its land has been full
of natural beauty as well. On one hand there are magnificent beaches
along the coastal line and on other hand there is widespread wealth of
fauna and flora across the state.
If you see
the lush green forests along the Western Ghats you would be mesmerized
by the adventures of nature. Forests are like a home to wild life and
to protect them from poaching and other problems, government has
created a large number of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries.
National
parks of Karnataka
To save them
from disturbances and problems and to offer homely environment
government has established several national parks in Karnataka for wild
life.

There are three
national parks in Karnataka out of eighty parks in the country. The
national park of Bandipur was established way back in year 1974 to save
them and then it was already a Project tiger reserve.
Bandipur
national park is the largest park of Karnataka as for as
area is concerned and it is popular for tiger and Asian elephants.
Bannerghatta national park was also established in the same year and
has been an attraction of wildlife lovers for a very long time for
tiger and lion. After a long period of establishment of above mentioned
two parks, in year 1988, government started Nagarhole national park to
protect wild life. This park is now a centre of attraction for
elephant, jackal and tiger.
Wildlife
Sanctuaries of Karnataka
There are 441
Wildlife sanctuaries across the country and there are few in Karnataka
as well. Karnataka B R Hills Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1987
to protect wild life and now it is among the main attractions for the
adventurous tourists. Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is the largest
Wildlife Sanctuary of the state as for as area is concerned and with
Ranganathittu Wildlife Sanctuary it is popular among tourists. Later
one is a bird sanctuary and called as a paradise for avian species.
