Kerala, God’s Own Country, is a state on the Malabar Coast of South (or southwestern) India. Malayalam is the main language spoken in this state. The great Mauryan Empire had a huge influence up on Kerala.

>History:
According to the Hindu mythology, when Parasuram, Mahavishnu’s avatar, threw his axe into the sea the land of Kerala arose from the sea. Kerala has a very long history that started from the 10th century BC. We also get to know that once Tamil Nadu & Kerala used to share same language, culture and ethnicity but gradually these two have become separate state in terms of culture and language.
Many Muslim merchants from Arabian countries came and settled in Kerala in 8th century. After the arrival of Vasco Da Gama in 1498, the Portuguese took control of this region. `In 1741, the Dutch captured this place from the hands of the Portuguese. It will be wrong to say that Kerala had hugely suffered during the British period. But many leaders came from Kerala and fought bravely to free India from the bondage of British rule. In 1924, Vaikom Satyagraham was initiated from Kerala also in 1921 Moplah rebellion started from Kerala.

Located on the tropical Malabar Coast, Kerala is one of the most famous travel destinations of entire south India. Kerala is also one of the ‘ten paradises of the world’. As we have already discussed that Kerala is the cleanest state of the country, Kerala is also famous for it’s initiatives for ‘ecotourism’. There are several places to see in this state.
