When a person says, he is going to visit any destination within India. It is generally understood that he is going to visit certain temples. There are so many temples in the nation. Hinduism has a lot of followers in India and also a lot of temples.

The Kurinji Andavar temple is an important temple among the various Kodaikanal temples. There are a few people who are aware of this temple. In Tamil, Kurinji means hilly region while Andavar means god. Hence, in this temple, Lord Murugan is referred to as Kurinji Andavar or God of the hills.


The magnificent Kurinji tree is also present near the temple. There are several Kurinji trees in on the hill sides. The flowers of this tree blossom only once in every 12 years. A clear view of Palani as well as the Vaigai dam is available from this spot. There are several other Kodaikanal temples, India in the city that the tourists would love to visit.

Kodaikanal temples, India has many temples, but the Palani temple among them is the best temple. The Lord Murugan is the deity of this land. Palani is an old temple sited at an elevated height of 1500 feet sea level. The campus is charming and the tourists had a velar view of the Idumbam hill, the Western Ghats,

the Kodaikanal hills, the Paddy fields, tanks, rivers, Palani town and colleges. Kodaikanal temples have clear, lovely and mist-free days and the Palani hills are beautiful at night and the hill is resplendent. The deity of Palani sanctorum is made of nine minerals called Navabashana.

Kodaikanal temples, India especially the Palani is of great importance. The Palani Andavar idol being made of so many minerals has attained medicinal properties. Kodaikanal temples, especially Palani temple idol has medicinal properties and is believed to have cured various diseases.

Other temples that are popular in Kodaikanal are the Mariamman temple, Munjikal, Gorapur, St. Joseph’s church, Lake End, Sacred Heart Church, Luthern Mission Church and relaxed and place to pray. The temples rituals are done as per the old tradition.
