This region was a centre for both the Hindus & the Jains. The Gupta dynasty also left their mark here. The great Mughal emperor captured this entire region during his reign. The Marathas took control of this place between 1720-1770.
Jhansi was actually founded by a Maratha general. During the British reign, most of the states of Madhya Pradesh became princely states. Those princely states were mainly governed by the Central India Agency. Apart from the travel destinations now MP is also a state full of mining resources.
