Madurai dances include the Thiru Nadanam. In this dance, the dancer wears a saffron colored dress. They would draw on their forehead triplet line and would dance holding long sticks in the hands. The dancers lead a simple life as they are village folks. The main objective of dancing is to secure the grace of god.

This dance has body, limbs, hands movement with facial expression and is apposite for dramatic interpretation.
