Madurai is a city where festivals seem to rule the calendar. There are many festivals that are celebrated in the city. Festivals are the most appropriate times to visit the city as one can get a real view of the city and the people also remain excited as there is a festival that nears.

The people of the city celebrate numerous festivals ranging from major festivals of Hinduism to small, minor festivals. The Madurai festivals are celebrated in a grand manner.
