brinjals stuffed with the coconut. All dishes, non vegetarian as well
as vegetarian are preferred to be eaten with chapattis or boiled rice.

of Maharashtra:
• Poha: It is very easy to cook and tasty snack which is made rice
called Pohay. It is normally prepared with potatoes, green peas and
onions. It is eaten along with tea and is the dish that is served by
any Maharashtrian to his guests.
• Upma: This particular snack is very similar to the upma from south
India but is essentially made of course wheat flour with spices.
• Vada: Vada Paav is the most popular and cheap Marathi dish. It is
very delicious to eat.
• Matar usal: It is another tasty and simple dish made with green pea
in curry with green chillies, garlic and onion. It is eaten in the
western style on bread or pav.
• Misal: It is a Marathi dish. It is made from topped batata- bhaji,
sabudana khichdi and chivda. It is also eaten with the tasty yogurt and

• Puran: It is the most famous and tastier sweet dishes in Maharashtra.
It is made from chana dal ,jaggery, ghee, plain flour and cardamom
powder.
Modak:
It is a type of sweet which is deep fried and is specially made during
the Ganesha Chaturthi festival during the month of August. It is given
as devotional offering to The Lord Ganesha, who is considered as
remover of hurdles Modak is considered to be his favourite sweet.
