Temples in Maharashtra:
Introduction:

Maharashtra is rich with ancient glory pilgrimage centres and it is called landmarks in the course of evolution of Temple architecture in India. Maharashtra includes many types of temples that give an attractive look to the visitors visiting Maharashtra.

It consists of the two of the grand ancient temples dedicated to the Lord Shiva- the Temple of Elephanta cave and Kailasanatha temple in Ellora. Both these famous temples are located in Maharashtra.

The state also includes three Jyotirlinga shrines in which two of them are Shakti Piths, the eight are Ashta Vinayak and Vitthala shrine situated at at Pandharpur is visited and made famous by the many great saints.

The temples in Maharashtra have attracted most of the visitors visiting Maharashtra. It consists of the temple which is of a great attraction to the travellers. The glory of temples attracts the visitors to visit the temples once.

Main temples:
Elephanta Caves: It is one of the ancient caves that are situated on the Elephanta Island at the coast of Mumbai. It is the ancient rock cut shrine. It imposes an image of Trimurti Shiva, The lord of destruction.

Kailasanatha Temple: This temple is situated in Ellora. It is the monument build during the Dravidian period

Mahalakshmi temple: This temple is situated in Kolhapur. This temple revered pilgrimage centre referred as the Karavira Kshetra enshrines Mahalakshmi.

Siddhivinayaka Temple: This is the temple situated in the film city of India i.e. Mumbai. It is the most famous temple. This temple is the major attraction for the visitors visiting Maharashtra. As the name siddhivinayaka refers to the name to Lord Ganesha. This is a temple where there is huge image of Ganesha. It has been visited by thousands of the visitors through out the year. It is the most popular temple all over India.

Grisheshwar Temple: This temple is located in the close proximity of Ellora. It is a Jyotirlinga shrine temple.

Bhimashankar Temple: It is a Jyotirlinga which is situated with the legend of Shiva destroying the demon Tripurasura.

Bhavani Temple: This temple is of Shivaji, the great ruler from Maratha’s. It is located at Tuljapur. This temple is visited by Millions of the devotees every year.

Ashta Vinayak Temple: The state of Maharashtra holds Ganpati with great reference. This is also the temple of Ganpati which is situated in pune. There is large image of The lord Ganesha in this temple.
