Dances in Mahe
Mahe is renowned as one of the places in India which has still preserved its own tradition and culture.

Therefore it is popular among the visitors for not only the natural sceneries but also for the beautiful traditions which is still going on for a long time.

There are diverse types of traditions which are followed in Mahe. Although there are a huge number of festivals in Mahe but one of the famous festivals which attracts a large crowd to the place is kreol.

Kreol is the only non-religious festival of Mahe, but in spite of being non-religious kreol is as famous as any of the religious festivals in Mahe. Kreol is the name of the village which is situated at place and Bal asosye is the part of the festival with several dances to show.

The festival starts at 6 in the evening and ends till 7 the morning. The event takes place in the last week of October every year. Let us have a look on the common dances of Mahe which are performed in the kreol festival as well.

Kamntole:
Kamntole is a type of dance which is being imported from foreign countries. The dance pattern includes playing of banjos, accordion, violin, triangle and the reminiscent of a Scottish reel. It is performed by several dancers in a small function.

Moutya:
Moutya is another dance which holds an important place in Mahe. It is known as to be the Seychelles national dance. This is the dance which is done around the camp fires and it is known for its frisky movements. The dance is basically a conversation between a man and a woman which is either in fight or in courtship. Unique specialty of the dance is its performance with unprepared lyrics.

Sega:
It is one of the African dances which are famous in Mahe. It is the basic dance of the people who were used to be slave in earlier times in the Africa. Those people formulated this dance for a joy in the daily schedule or daily existence. The dance is usually done by swaying hips and the foot never leaves the ground. Therefore it is an simple form of dance and easier for anyone to perform.

A huge number of tourists visit Mahe from different parts of the world to enjoy these dances which give relax to the souls.
