Wildlife in Meghalaya
Meghalaya is one of the beautiful states of India. Meghalaya is covered with Himalayan ranges. On the north eastern side of Meghalaya, bounded by the Assam and on the other side that is in south is Bangladesh.

Meghalaya is covered with the dense green forest. If you are planning for a vacation in Meghalaya then you are making the right decision. There are many things, which are offered by Meghalaya to its tourist.

You can find numerous species of fauna and flora in the state of Meghalaya. It rains heavy in the state of Meghalaya during the whole year.

So the forest of Meghalaya is green and thick. Even you can find wide varieties of animals and reptiles in the forest of Meghalaya. Meghalaya has a varied wildlife, which no country can have.

You can find animal species scattered in the area of south East Asia, mainland India and China. There are two national parks in Meghalaya, which are protected by the government. Meghalaya also have three sanctuaries and one biosphere.

There are many national parks in Meghalaya which full of flora, fauna and wild life. The national parks of Meghalaya are Balpakram national park, The Nokrek National Park and many more such small and big parks.

The Balpakram National Park
One of the most famous national parks of the Meghalaya is Balpakram national park. Many students come from all over the world just study on the archeological and geological. You can find many rocks, which are fossilized with the sea shells in the Balpakram national park.

The Nokrek National Park
If you are a tourist in Meghalaya then do not forget to visit in the Nokrek Biosphere and Siju Caves. You can find Siju Caves in the Garo district, which is two kilometers from the Tura peak. These reserves are still virgin and are untouched by the people.

Even there are many bird centuries in Meghalaya, which are very famous among the tourists. You can find large number of wild animals in the forest of Meghalaya. If you are a true nature lover then Meghalaya is the best place for you to holiday. The most common wild animal in Meghalaya is wild Asian Elephant.

You can find elephant population in the hills of Garo. You can also find Wild Asian Elephants in the hills of Jianta and Ri Bhoi. You can also find white Bengal tigers in the forest of Meghalaya. Many tourist visit Meghalaya just to watch the White Bengal Tigers in the forest of Meghalaya.
