Cuisine is one of the specialties that bring recognition to particular type of people. People, their region, their language and many factors can be noted by the cuisine. Diverse religions and culture, its traditions clearly reflect the cuisine of Kerala.

Munnar cuisine is not different from Kerala cuisine, except for very few variations depending on the taste of each person. The Munnar Cuisine, India has its importance and maintains the freshness in its cuisine and this is one of the reasons that tourists enjoy visiting any part of Kerala, especially Munnar.

The environment of Munnar and the surrounding is invigorating. Besides this, the cuisine is its attraction. Munnar cuisine, India includes sea food and more of coconut items. All the Munnar cuisine is unique that you will find only in Kerala menu. Rice is the staple diet of this place. In fact, unpolished rice is their main food.


Apart from this, the boiled product is eaten as staple food and there is an array of snacks as well as breakfast fare prepared from cereals. The cereals are pounded into flour and it is given a bamboo shape. This is a healthy food called puttu. The other breakfast items that are a part of the cuisine of Munnar are Vattayappam, Palappam, Kallappam, sweet uniappam, idiappam and kozhikatta.

The coconut tree has always been a vital part of life for the Keralites. The Munnar cuisine, India is what the land offers, but the result is marvelous and palate tickling. The Nambudiris are strict vegetarians. The Hindus of various other castes eat meat and fish as this is taken as vegetarian food.

The midlands are rich in paddy fields, vegetables such as drumstick, narrow gourd, yam and a collection of fruits such as banana, mango, pineapple, cashew and jackfruit.

The lowlands are abundant with coconut trees and paddy cultivation. The Munnar cuisine is tasty and has a good flavor as everything is from their plantations. This makes Munnar cuisine, India prominent among Indian and international travelers.
