Introduction:
Nagaland is a state which is completely hilly. Nagaland is a state which is situated on the border in the northeast India on indo-Mayanmarese. The main hilly areas are Patkai and barail. The state consists of a total area of 16,626 sq km.

Major sanctuaries:
Fakim wild life sanctuary: This sanctuary in Nagaland is covered with narrow valleys and hills. The sanctuaries in this state are different in scenic beauty and variety.

This sanctuary covers an area of 642 ha. This region gets the highest rainfall and it is the home for fauna and flora. Some of the exceptional species of flora and fauna are found in this sanctuary. The forest in this region is tropical and the important trees in this area are khasi pine, hollock, bonsum, amari, uriam, nahor, sasi etc. A numerous species of orchids and more than dozen species of ferns are found in this area.

Intanki wild life sanctuary: This wild life sanctuary is in Nagaland. It is under the control of the forest wild life department. This sanctuary is home to the various species of birds. This sanctuary is rich with fauna and flora. The Intanki sanctuary consists of large collection of birds.

This wild life sanctuary is surrounded with mountains and hills. The whole sanctuary is covered with green plantation which is like green carpet. It consists of the animals like sambhar, elephants, tiger, sloth bear, barking dear, flying squirrel etc. This sanctuary is home to the most of the species of animals and birds.
