Orissa Tourist attractions
Orissa is known for its sites and cultural heritage. Its temples are especially known all over the world. The Konark temples and Khajuraho temples are world famous.

The architecture and temples of Orissa are many hundreds of years old. The best time to visit Orissa is during October to March when the rains and the heat are through. The weather is very pleasant and great for travel throughout the state.

Bhubhaneshwar
Bhubhaneshwar is capital city of the state. Tourists should start their trip from here. There are many places of interest within the city. The city is divided in two parts. The old town and the newer parts of the town are distinctly different.

Its important to rent a car for sight seeing as public transport isn’t very popular. Chauffeur driven cars with guides are available for the tourist attractions. There are extremely beautiful and carved temples that can be seen It’s also known as the city of temples. The famous temples are Lingaraj temple, Mukhestwar temple and Rajarani temple. It’s also the city where there are many educational instates and hospital establishments.

Dhauli
The town is located near Bhubhaneshwar, and is famous for the rock edit that was erected by Ashoka, the great emperor after the Kalinga War. The Shanti Stupa is also located here which was built by Japanese collaboration in the last few years.

Khandagiri & Udaygiri
These places are known for their carved & polished Jain caves and rock edits. The most famous one are Hati Gumpha (Elephant cave) and Rani Gumpha (Rani Caves)

Nandankanan
Set in Chandaka forest, its one of the finest parks in the country. Here tourist can see white tigers, lions and a range of animals. There are many safaris that are organized by the wildlife parks. There are any endangered species that can also be viewed. The Botanical gardens are also situated here.

Konark temples
Konark temple has been built in the shape of a chariot and is dedicated to the Sun God. It was built in the 13th century by King Narsimhan Deva. The cost of the temple used up the revenues of the state for 12 years. Konark was an important port town from even during the early centuries and was also known to the European travelers. It was nicknamed the Black Pagoda.

There is something for everyone in Orissa and should be visited by all tourist who come to India.
