Dances of Punjab
Punjab is one of the wealthiest and beautiful states in India. Punjab is located on the boundary of Pakistan and India. Agriculture is main occupation followed by the people of Punjab. There are rivers flowing everywhere in the state and canals full of water around the year.

The foremost crops grown in the state are: wheat, rice, mustard green, corn as well as sugar cane in every part of the state. Farming is main economy of Punjab. Punjab is famous everywhere for its food. Well, it has beautiful dance steps, which follows on their typical music. Punjabis generally prepare all food items from milk products.

Punjabis are normally healthy people. Almost fifty percent of people are vegetarian. There are few major cities of Punjab. They are Chandigarh, Ludhiana, patiala, Amritsar. People of Punjab follow Sikh religion.
Here, are few major points regarding Punjabi dances.

Punjabis does follow all their dance steps with lot of excitement and needs lot of energy to do Punjabi dance. Well, Punjabi Bhangra dance is famous all around everywhere in the country.There are three type of dances followed in Punjabi dance. That is Bhangra, Gidda and Jummar.

Bhangra
Bhangra is famous and celebrated at time of harvest. There is link harvest is connected to their major festival Baisakhi, which is in the beginning of the summer on 13th April. This festival is followed, when farmer is too happy and excited. The long and tall heaps of golden wheat makes happy to the farmers.

The Bhangra dance follows with large drums, which are known as dhols. Farmer and all his associates in village make one circle and celebrate round in jumping following few traditional dance steps. People wear three piece suits, designed dresses and join to young crowd on this day.

Gidda
Well, women do a different type of dance. The dancers represent poetry named as bolis. However, they are very much excited about the dance known as Gidda. There are beautiful songs sang in the group. Singing songs, related to different political matters regarding the family.

These songs speak about the different opinionated affairs, which are presented lively in songs sung by them. Along with the drum beats and different musical rhythms, apart there are clapping sounds followed in the dance steps.

Jhumar
Jhumar is initially from place called Sandalbar. Sandalbar is now in Pakistan after partition. However, it is almost similar and is fraction of Punjabi group dance. It is done on specific rhythm followed on Jhumar. Dancers circle around the drummer with attractive gait.
