Geographical features
The land is also geographically important as it has a backbone formed by the high Aravalli ranges to its South East direction. It was also an important spot that fell in the route of transporting spices, silk and also valuable stones.
These resources were extensively used by the ruling sovereigns who obtained a lot of money by taxing the movement of these materials and thus obtained the funds required to build the palaces and other monuments that the land is sanctified with. The land was once susceptible to various invasions but presently shares a western border with Pakistan.
Significance of Rajasthan
Rajasthan has magnificent palaces, forts and beautifully carved temples. Their exotic buildings portray the rich heritage and tradition. The Rajput followed a rigid caste as they were the state’s economic and political life. Rajasthani’s adhered to their tradition.
They were people with big swaggering moustaches, orange and yellow turbans and silver anklets. Rajasthan has beautiful cities such as Jaipur and Jaisalmer. They facilitate the tourists with beautiful hotels, souvenir shops and restaurants. They provide exceptionally good accommodations and bestow with charming hospitality. They have exceptional wildlife sanctuaries and National Parks amidst the bounty of nature. The animals and birds are housed in their typical habitats.
Living in the desert terrain, Rajasthan women have developed a sense of creativity. Their handwork is excellent and tourists are fascinated with the bead and stone work. They celebrate their festivals with zeal and enthusiasm. Their food is tasty and they have an exotic cuisine.
They use minimum water in their cooking and enhance it with milk, butter and buttermilk. Liberally they make use of beans from plants such as sarigri, ker, etc and dried lentils. Gram flour is widely used and delicacies such as gatta ki sabzi and pakodi are prepared. They specialize in chutneys. Rajasthan is a dry land but cools the tourists with its warmth of delicacies and attractions. |
