Sikkim is known as ‘Sukhim’ that means ‘the new place’ to the Nepalese people. It is called as ‘Demazong’ by the Bhutias. ‘Damazong’ means ‘the valley of rice’. The natives of Sikkim the Lepchas, Sikkim are called as ‘nye-mae-el lang’ when deciphered it means ‘the abode of gods’.

Sikkim has its main tributary as the Brahmaputra River, Rangpo River and Rangit River. Though Buddhism is a wide spread religion of Sikkim, Hinduism is equally followed by many. The Sikkimese Bhutias and the Tibetans are devotees of Buddhism, while Nepalese take after Hinduism. Sikkimese also follows Christianity, Islam and Sikhism as well.

It has snow capped mountains, old monasteries, holy lakes, extensive range of flora and fauna, orchid nurseries, holy lakes and wealthy flora and fauna. There are exotic places for trekking and mountaineering challenging the passionate adventurous people.
