Wildlife
India is a great place for wildlife aficionados as there are many wildlife sanctuaries and other biological reservoirs that store the most precious treasure of all, the nation’s biological treasures.

Sikkim is a great spot for a wildlife enthusiast as the state has great wildlife diversity. The state offers virginity in its natural beauty. The state has a unique bio diversity that is characterized efficiently only within the dimensions of the state.

The natural flora and fauna of the region play a major role in magnetizing tourists from far and wide, the shining waterfalls, fantabulous forests; stupendous surroundings offer an image tantamount to bliss. As a matter of fact, the state of Sikkim had a name that meant ‘the abode of gods’.

Sanctity of wildlife
There are many animals and other biotic assets in the state of Sikkim. The state exhibits a fine botanical, zoological and even a great avian life within its geographic limitations. The state is a wizard as it transforms even a tourist into a lovable member who finds it heartbreaking to leave such an exalting land behind. There are many animals found in Sikkim such as the Red Panda.

This animal is the emblem of Sikkim. The other animals in the state are Himalayan Black Bears, Snow Leopards, Brown Bears, Rare Clouded Leopards, Yaks, Wild Goats, Musk Deers and Tibetan Antelopes. The birdlife of the state comprises of Patridges, Pheasants, Eagles, Quails, Himalayan Cuckoos and also Barbets. Added to this the state has an awesome butterfly population. The state has 50% of the nation’s 1,400 butterfly species.

Uniqueness
The uniqueness of this wildlife at Sikkim is the variety of animal kingdom and the diversity in the plants. The yaks are domesticated as well as reared for serving their economic productiveness. The Yak milk is useful for making butter and the wool is used for blankets and carpets. The endangered species is the musk deer, but is found here in the temperate regions.

The denizen of Sikkim is the barking deer. The Red Panda lives on treetops. Similarly, the snow leopard is a mythical animal. Some of the animals that house comfortably in this cool green blanket are the Flying Squirrels, Blue Sheep, Tahrs, Marmots, Mush deer and Binturong.

Rich wildlife
Sikkim has an extensive selection of birds and animals. They have a rich flora and fauna. It allows wild ass, red panda, leopard, musk deer, Himalayan black bear and flying squirrel to roam freely. The opulent flora and fauna compelled the Sikkim government to transform this animal populated region into wildlife sanctuary and to protect the animals from poachers.

Some of the sanctuaries are Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary, Khangchendzonga National Park, Fambong Lho Wildlife Sanctuary, Kyongnosia Alpine Sanctuary and Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary.
