Significance
of temples
The Madurai Meenakshi Temple is the largest and oldest temples. This
temple has soaring complex and carved towers. The Meenakshi temple is a
popular temple in Tamil Nadu and is well known for its architectural
work. The Chidambaram temple is devoted to Lord Natarajah. Located to
the south of Chennai, it is easy to access.
This temple is an
abode of sanctity and has miraculous stories in Hindu scriptures. The
Kapaleeswarar Temple is an ancient temple sited in Mylapore, Chennai.
This temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and the Goddess Karpahavalli. The
temple is more than 1000 years old. This temple is very famous and
innumerable devotees throng during festival days. Besides festival days
the other days also this temple has regular devotees.
The Parthasarathy
Temple of Chennai is of Lord Vishnu, the Palaniandavar temple of Lord
Subramanyam, the holy island of Rameswaram and the Swamimalai, an abode
of God Subramanya are significant temples of Tamil Nadu. These temples
have visitors as well as devotees throughout the year. The Gopurams and
the Praharams are very great attractions that any tourist cannot resist
admiring.
Kanyakumari temple
is a tourist attraction place. This temple is near the shores of Kanya
Kumari. Legend says that this Devi wished to marry Lord Shiva and when
she was unsuccessful, she remained Kanya (virgin). The nose-ring of
this Goddess is made of diamond and its glittering is believed to be
seen from the sea.
Kanchipuram has
numerous ancient temples with grand architecture. The Thanjavur temple,
the Bragatheeswarar Temple is a huge temple and the Rock Fort temple at
Tiruchirapalli is an extraordinary temple. There are numerous temples
in the whole of Tamil Nadu. All these temples are ancient temples and
are of great attraction to tourists.
