The nation has
several sanctuaries in a bid to sustain and conserve the cache that is
present in the wilderness. There are sanctuaries all over the nation
including Tamilnadu. Tamilnadu is a host to sanctuaries and they are
visited by tourist from all over the world.
The sanctuaries are
frequented all over the year as there is no season barrier to visit a
site of natural beauty. The wildlife in these sanctuaries is also
amazing to the tourists as they are diverse and are also maintained in
the same spot.
Sanctuaries
Sanctuaries such as Anamalai wildlife sanctuary is near Coimbatore and
is located at 1400 mts height near Pollachi. This sanctuary is renamed
as Indira Gandhi wildlife Sancturary recently. This sanctuary houses
fauna such as Tiger, Elephant, Gaur, Deer, Wild Dog, Flying Squirrel,
Jackal, Civet Cat, Porcupine and birds such as Red Whiskered Bulbul,
Tree Pie, Rocket Tailed Drongo, Spotted Dove, Black Headed Oriole and
pigeon.
There are
arrangements to ride on elephant back or van. Anna Zoological Park
covers an extensive area of 510 hectares. There are nearly 170 species
of mammals, reptiles and aviaries. Elephant ride, lion safari vehicle
and vehicles that are battery operated are available inside the park.
The animals present here are Sambar, Barking Deer, Hyena, Blackbuck,
Llama, wolf, Sangai and Otter.
Guindy National Park
is a fabulous spot for a whole family to spend time amidst nature. This
park comprises of children’s park and Snake Park. The Guindy Park is
interesting with 30 species of trees and it has lakes, ponds,
footpaths, nature trails. Accessing to all these sanctuaries is easily
possible as the railways, roadways and airways are well connected.
