There are seven states in North East India. Tripura is one among these three states. It has a latitudinal extent from 22o 56’ north to 24o 32’ north. Its longitudinal extent is from 90o 09’ east to 92o 20’ east. It has a common boundary with the states of Mizoram and Assam to its east.
The neighboring country of Bangladesh lies to the north, south, south east and west directions to this wonderful and charming land. Apart from these, there are various places to see in Tripura. The state has lots of natural splendor and is frequented by tourists who come in search of nature and its significant glamour from all over the world.
Dances of Tripura
Tripura has an opulent heritage of culture comprising of 19 tribal communities. Each has distinct forms of dance and the main folk dances are Hozagiri dance of the Reang community, Masak Sumani, Garia, Maimita, Jhum and Lebang Boomani dance of the Tripura community.
Wangala dance belongs to the Garo Community, the Welcome dance and the Cheraw is of the Lusai Community, Bizu dance belongs to Chakma community, the Basanta Rash and the Pung Chalam dances belong to Manipuri community, the Sangraiaka, Padisha and abhangama dances belong to the Mog community, the Gajan, Sari, Dhamail and Rabindra dances of Bengali community
Temples in Tripura
Tripura has numerous temples of Buddhists and Hindus. The significant temples are Tripureshwari temple, the Fourteen Goddess temple, the Bhuvaneshwari Temple and the Benuban Vihar.
Handicrafts in Tripura
The handicraft work is excellent in Tripura. They use bamboo and cane and make fabulous handicrafts such as decorated wall panels, decorative pieces of Bamboo roots, dining table mats, cane furniture, room divider and table mats. Tourists can purchase these products from Government undertaking Sales Emporium or Private Sales Emporiums. |
