The state is bestowed with four wildlife sanctuaries sheltering various
species of animals and boasts a stunning treasure of nature. The
wildlife sanctuaries in Tripura are eminent and the area encompasses
nearly 389.59 sq.km.
This also houses a
sylvan water body that extends to an area of nearly 300 Sq.km. This
sanctuary is basically for Elephants, Sambar, Bison, Barking deer and
various domestic as well as migratory species come seeking refuge to
the secluded enclaves of the sanctuary.
The Rowa wildlife
sanctuary has an opulence of natural forests and dense glades. The
pride of the sanctuary rests in the various species of wild animals,
birds and lush vegetation making it a fascinating dream for
ornithologist, botanists, enthusiasts and etymologists. The sanctuary
is famous for its opulent growth of fodder, orchids, horticultural
plants and medicinal herbs.
The sanctuary is
well-known for its birds and is an ideal retreat for the wildlife. The
biodiversity of Tripura encourages the eco tourism in this state. The
prominent wildlife sanctuaries are the Gumti Wildlife Sanctuary,
Sepahijila Sanctuary, Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary and Rowa Wildlife
Sanctuary. All these sanctuaries are a hallmark of the natural state
and an evidence of the diverse Tripura wildlife.
