Pradesh has an extremely great culture and this culture traces its
history through many centuries as the region was also administered by
the valiant, capable and efficient Mughal emperors. The culture of
Uttar Pradesh has withstood the weathering of time and the denudation
of time to which various cultures have succumbed to. The culture Of

Culture
An opulent heritage of dances and songs are a part of the culture. This
state has unique song culture including classical, folk, semi-classical
and semi-folk genres. The popular songs are Qauwwali and Ghazal. The
other popular songs are Kajari, Chaiti and Birha. Besides these other
forms of art are Khayal, Rasia, Thumari and Tappa. Among dances, Kathak
is popular. Besides this, Ras-lila is also popular. The languages focus
on Hindi, Awadhi and Urdu. Uttar Pradesh cuisines range from Kakori
Kabobs to Rampuri Fish and sweets are Peda and Petha.
Festivals
The festivals are celebrated with fun and enthusiasm in Uttar Pradesh.
Holi is a festival indicating the starting of spring and is signifies
the victory of good over evil. Barsana Holi is famous of Braj. This day
women have liberty to take cudgels on their men folk and this is
exercised with great enthusiasm by showering colored water. The Kampil
Fair is celebrated with zeal as it is believed to the visit of Lord
Mahavir and a Jain Mela is observed for five days. Few other fairs are
Bateshwar Fair at Agra, Deva Mela, Barabanki, Kailash Fair at Agra and
Rambarat at Agra.
