The land of West Bengal is famous for its cuisine that has fostered over the years. The people of West Bengal enjoy a wonderful cuisine that has been preserved from the claws of time that can leave a culture damaged and can also lead to its extinction. The Bengali people are fond of the food they eat and their cuisine proves it.

Typical Cuisine
The staple food of the Bengalis is rice and fish as Bengal is a coastal state. The Bengalis are also huge fans of sweets and they simply adore sweets. The native cuisine of Bengal is very colorful and also very tasty.

One cannot stop stuffing himself with the native cuisine offered as one visits the blessed land of West Bengal. The people of West Bengal are as sweet as the sweetmeats offered there. There is no comparison that can match efficiently with the people of West Bengal and also their cuisine. Bengalis prepare the meal they eat with the greatest of care and relish it with content.

A regular Bengali meal has the entire deserved flavor, exquisiteness offer variety even in daily meals. The daily meal is a balanced nutrition. Rice and fish curries and every meal starts with a bittersweet such as deep fried shukto or bitter gourd. These work like appetizers than the main meal.

They also take lentils and large quantity of rice with lentils and other curries is consumed. The prefer taking fried fish. Fish or meat curries are their favorite and mostly the popular fish curries are machher jhal, machher jhol, chingri macch and doi mach. Among the other meat items, goat meat, beef and chicken are considered as important. It is completed with chutneys made from tomatoes, tamarind and mango.

Sweet Popularity
West Bengal cuisine is relished by many parts of the country and the tourists. But the sweets captivate all the people in the world. They are popular for sweets and they make varieties of sweets. They are significant during festivals and are also a compulsory part of daily life.

They serve a sweet dish with water even when it is a simple greeting. The famous sweet is Rasgulla, made of sweet cottage cheese, Shondesh made of sweet cottage cheese and abar Khabo, Kachagolia and Korpak are varieties of Shondesh. Besides this Pithe and Pantua Chumchom are favorite sweet dishes.
