The culture includes

throughout the ages with remarkable continuity. The dances are
performed on various important occasions to propagate the spirit of

Dances
The dance comprises of Chhou, a unique masked dance. They mask human
features lightly as an indication to what they are portraying. The body
movements communicate the dialect. There is no song only flute and
drums are associated. The feet, toe movements are like an animal.
This dance is very
acrobatic. Rava dance is performed by Rava women. This dance has
melodious music and the theme entails daily joys and lives and various
festivals. The other dances include Welcome dance, Baishar Bidan, Nak
Chung Baini, Larai Lunji dance.
Jatra is a famous
folk theatre and the performances are based on religious aspects. The
drams are performed with lot of songs. Two characters in this drama
hold the audience and meander through the action by commenting and
foretelling the fate mostly a female.
Jatra continues in
a melodramatic form and this is performed without the help of
microphones. The songs mark the commencement of the completion of
scenes. Furniture in this drama in any part of the scene is a chair.
This chair is a bed or a shrine depending on the drama. West Bengal
captivates its visitors with varieties of performances and thrills
everyone by their explicit acting.
